Afrobeats has grown from a niche sound into a scene of its own in Berlin, with nights that often bring dancehall, reggae and amapiano along. Two fixed addresses are in the directory: YAAM, the culture beach on the Spree with a beach bar and reggae, afrobeats and dancehall nights, and Surprise Club on Potsdamer Straße with afrobeats, reggae and international sounds in an open, inclusive atmosphere. On top come rotating party series that move through clubs in Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain and Mitte, and those are exactly what the calendar lists.

Good to know

The evening starts earlier here than at techno: many parties open around 11 pm, and being there before midnight is not too early. Friendslists are more common at afrobeats nights than at techno, often as ‘free until’ a certain time, regular entry afterwards. Signing up is free and needs no account, up to three plus-ones, QR code by e-mail, and the list only works until the deadline shown on the event.
