Amapiano comes from South Africa: slower than house, built on deep log-drum bass, piano chords and room to dance. In Berlin it rarely gets a night of its own; it mostly runs as part of afrobeats parties, where it has become a fixed part of the set. There are no dedicated amapiano clubs here; the parties move between clubs and bars, which is why the calendar is useful: it shows where an amapiano night or an afrobeats party with an amapiano floor is scheduled this week.
Doors usually open between 10 and 11 pm, the mood builds slowly, and the peak comes after midnight. Because promoters rather than fixed club doors run these nights, a Friendslist is more common here than at techno. It is free, needs no account, allows up to three plus-ones; the QR code arrives by e-mail. If ‘amapiano’ is not in the title, check the afrobeats parties; it is often there in the small print.
