A night out in Berlin does not have to be expensive. On many nights the door costs nothing – sometimes all night, more often until a certain time or only on weekdays. Here is where free entry is common, how to get it through the guest list, and which catches to know about.
Free entry in Berlin usually has a reason: the club wants to fill the floor early, it is a weeknight, or the promoter makes their money at the bar rather than at the door. So ‘free entry’ rarely comes without a condition – usually ‘free until midnight’ or ‘free on Tuesdays’. Monday to Thursday the door price sits at €0 more often than at the weekend, and so do Sunday afternoons.
On friendslist.de the price is shown on every party right in the calendar, along with the club, the time and the minimum age. Parties with free entry lists only nights where the door or the guest list costs nothing – sorted by night, so what is on tonight comes first.
The second route is the guest list. At many parties the promoter sets a free tier: anyone on the Friendslist pays nothing until a certain time, and the normal price after that. The event page shows it as ‘With Friendslist: free until 0:30’, right next to the door price, so the saving is obvious.
Signing up needs no account and no app: name and e-mail are enough, you can add up to three plus-ones, and the confirmation with your QR code arrives by e-mail. Every list has a deadline, and once it is full there is a waiting list. All parties where this works are under parties with a guest list.
Beyond the guest list, Berlin clubs waive entry in a few fixed patterns. Ladies’ nights: women get in free until a certain time, usually early in the evening and often at mainstream, hip-hop or R&B parties. Student nights: on weekdays, with a student card at the door, often with cheap drinks instead of an entry fee. Each promoter sets the exact rules – shown on the event.
In summer there are open airs on top: many smaller ones run on donations or without any entry fee, especially on Sunday afternoons. Then there are the bars with DJs that never charge entry – in Neukölln, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain you find dance floors every weekend with no till at the door. Smaller, but often just as packed.
Free is not the same as unconditional. These are the catches to know in advance:
In the afternoon check parties tonight and look at the entry price. At parties with a free Friendslist tier, sign up straight away – the deadline is often on the evening itself, sometimes already in the afternoon. Then count backwards: if the perk runs until 0:30, be at the door by midnight at the latest.
If you are flexible, look at weeknights: the same music often runs in the same club as on Saturday – just without entry and without the queue. What entry normally costs and where prices currently sit is in the guide to entry prices. And at the weekend the guest list is your friend: there a free list tier is more common than a free door.

Some bars with a dance floor never charge entry. At clubs, free entry is usually tied to a specific night, a time or the guest list. What currently applies is shown on every event in the calendar.
That you get in without paying until 0:30 – anyone at the door later pays the normal price. The queue does not count, so come earlier.
In clubs normally not. Some bars and lounges work with a minimum spend; that is shown at the door or on the event. Coat check costs extra almost everywhere.
No. Signing up is free, with no account, just name and e-mail. What you pay at the door depends on the perk the promoter has set – at many parties nothing until a certain time.
No. In Berlin the door always has the last word – regardless of the price. Bring ID, arrive sober, and do not come in a huge group.
