Hip-hop parties in Berlin: where, when and how to get in

Hip-hop in Berlin has no single temple but a handful of clubs that run hip-hop nights regularly, plus many parties put on by promoters in changing venues. So it pays to search by night rather than by club: the same party series is in a different place in autumn than in summer.

The list at the top of this page shows the clubs where hip-hop parties are announced for the coming weeks – live from the events on friendslist.de, sorted by number of nights.

Friday and Saturday are the main nights; most hip-hop parties start around 11 pm and are fullest between 1 and 3 am. Pure hip-hop has become rare – most nights mix rap with R&B, Afrobeats, dancehall or amapiano, often across several floors. If you are after a specific sound, check the genres on the event: if it only says “hip-hop”, only hip-hop plays.

Weekdays are thinner but not empty: Thursdays are popular with hip-hop promoters because the door is cheaper and people still come. Parties tonight shows what is on this evening.

Hardly any genre uses the guest list as consistently as hip-hop. Many promoters offer free or reduced entry until a certain time to everyone who signs up beforehand – that is how the place fills up early. For you it means: get on the Friendslist beforehand, arrive on time, bring ID.

The perk is shown next to the door price on every party. If it says “With Friendslist: free until 0:30”, 0:30 is the time you need to be inside – not the time you join the queue.

Unlike techno clubs, many hip-hop parties have a dress code – usually “smart”, often no sportswear, tracksuit bottoms or caps. Whether and which one applies is on the event or on the promoter's Instagram. If in doubt: a bit smarter than usual costs nothing.

At hip-hop parties the door often works with lists and tables. Without a list spot you pay the door price and wait in the regular queue; large all-male groups have a hard time at many doors. On friendslist.de, parties with table booking show the way to the promoter right on the event page.
